Sian Swimwear was launched in 2015 by founder and designer Sian Jones.
Anglo-Danish Sian was brought up in Copenhagen and spent her teens experimenting with fashion and dreaming of travel. At the age of 19, Sian moved to London to follow her passion and pursue a career in the world of luxury fashion.
In London, Sian’s dreams became reality and she established a career in public relations working in-house for high end brands such as Dior and Giuseppe Zanotti.
Throughout this time her love of travel to sunnier climates led to an obsession with finding the perfect swimsuit. Disappointed with the existing global market, she set out to create her own and embarked on a specialist course at Central Saint Martins.
The namesake label has been in development for the past three years, with Sian spending every minute of her spare time immersing in research and spending her summer holidays scouring the globe to find the perfect materials and the most prestigious manufacturers.
Her designs are minimalist in their aesthetic, reflecting her Scandinavian heritage and focus on fit and function for every body type. Made in Italy, Sian names each swimsuit and bikini after the different women that inspire her.
We're super excited to be sharing the Re20 collection soon.
This shoot marks our third collaboration with LA based photographer Sasha Samsonova, who we previously worked with on SS16 featuring Jessica White and most recently HS19 that gave us major ethereal goddess vibes.
For Re20 we worked with three models - Hanna Gebrehiwet, London Knight and Milan Dixon.
We have been wanting to show you a bit of what goes behind the scenes at Sian Swimwear.
There's a few steps prior to shooting collections with exciting photographers or delivering finished products to clients. We start at our headquarters in London by setting the mood for the season and from there is researching and getting inspiration from literally everything. Once designs are created, an edit is made and the ones selected go into testing at our amazing factory in Italy.
The factory was founded more than 30 years ago by Lucia, and today her daughter Mara runs it. Their team is made only of women and they this sense of unity and togetherness. This combined with their years of expertise and experience is reflected in the quality of our product, and although it's been very tempting to find overseas manufacturers as they offer more competitive prices, for us it's imperative to be able to see the chain of work and knowing our manufacturers' environment is high standard and something we can stand by.
